In today’s society author’s writings have evolved over time in regards to language, context, and interpretation throughout the years. All of our readings and writing have come about by using Greek Mythology and Shakespeare writings. In the Greek mythology, “MYTHS AND LEGENDS OF ANCIENT GREECE AND ROME” by E. M. Bernes, Bernes demonstrates his writing by portraying his characters for example Cronus and Zeus as powerful human like Gods that partake in magical superpowers. Similar to Greek Mythology, Shakespeare’s writings has also correlated to the same ideas as Bernes. For example in his writing, “The Tempest”, Shakespeare character Prospero also shares human like Gods that partake in magical powers. But we as readers fail to realize that what we call today as super heroes such as Batman and Spiderman came from Greek mythology readings. In the Greek mythology, “MYTHS AND LEGENDS OF ANCIENT GREECE AND ROME”, Bernes introduces to the reader a charter known as Cronus who is indeed “was the god of time in its sense of eternal duration” (Bernes pg.5). Cronus was a father of six powerful Gods that he feared would disobey him. He was in so much fear that he decided to swallow them upon their arrival in the Greek world. His wife Rhea, who was the daughter of Uranus and Gaea, was tired of her husband Coronus swallowing her children so decided that when he last child Zeus arrived in the Greek world that she would save him. Zeus, now grown into manhood “throve rapidly, developing great physical powers, combined with extraordinary wisdom and intelligence” (Bernes pg.5). In this text Bernes is describing how Zeus has grown into a God man who has developed unnatural power with his intelligence. In this text is where we as readers understand the human like God figure. Wanting to be reunited with his brothers and sisters Zeus demands his father Cronus to release his siblings. In order to be reunited with his siblings
