Before Zeus was the king of the gods, he was raised by a magic goat named Amalthea, some things called Kouretes, and a few nymphs. When he grew up, he overthrew his father and saved his brothers and sisters. He and two of his other brothers became the rulers of the sky, the sea, and the Underworld, and Zeus became the ruler of them all. He was wise, according to the myths, and solved many disputes.
