Today I am going to tell you all about the greek god Hephaestus. He is one god many are not aware of. He has one very messed up past that includes hatred, disappointment, and being disliked for his appearance. He was not only disliked by many in the community, he was disliked so much so that his parents abandoned him. Today I am hoping you will know a little bit more about Hephaestus the god of fire and metalworking he had a very common theme that occurred in his life, being very underappreciated and being despised for no general reason i think he was just someone the people back then liked to despise and make fun of despite many not even having a valid reason or even having met Hephaestus.
His father, Zeus (Berens), was the god of all gods. Many know him as the god that started everything (Berens). When I asked my family to think of a god, they all answered with Zeus which further proves my point that Zeus is the most popular god (Berens). He fought his family to be ruler. He had a weapon of a lightning bolt and could start storms (Berens). He made sure to keep all the other gods in check by making them do their duties (Berens). He acted as …show more content…

He stood for the god of fire and metalworking (Berens). Metal working was not respected very much because it was not as important to the people of that time (Berens). Hephaestus was doubted but he just kept on going about his life. When Hephaestus was thrown down from the mountain, he broke his leg and it never quite healed. Given the medical circumstances of that generation and time period, when he did not fully recover from his injuries he was lame in one foot giving him his “lame god” nickname (Cartwright). The people down on the ground took him in and helped him. To repay them, he taught them how to work with metal and many other valuable arts. Though he is known as the lame god, he is pictured as strong and powerful
