He was disguised as a servant, and was the cupbearer of Kronos. One day, the Titan goddess of wisdom, Metis, gave Zeus a wine to give to Kronos. The wine would make his Kronos vomit up all his children, Zeus’s brothers and sisters. After they got out, they fought Kronos in a war and defeated him by cutting him up into pieces and throwing him into Tartarus, the “bottomless” pit in the Underworld.
Once he reached an old enough age, Zeus Commanded Cronus to throw up “The first stone.” It was done at Pytho under the “glens of Parnassus” for a sign to the Omphalos, mortal men. Then Zeus’ siblings. Some stories told, Metis forced Cronus to take an emetic to discharge the Siblings. Another story told was that he cut Chronis’ stomach.

Cronus was notorious for being a very jealous and greedy deity. Out of the fear one of his children could take his throne, Cronus swallowed every child Rhea was giving birth to. However, when Rhea gave birth to her last child, Zeus, she managed to trick Cronus with the help of the Titans Uranus and Gaea. She gave her husband a rock in swaddling clothes to swallow, as a substitution to her child, and sent Zeus away to the Greek island of Crete. Special daemons named "Curetes" made noise by hitting their shields, so that Cronus would to not hear the cries of the baby.
When Rhea’s sixth child, Zeus, was born, she managed to trick Cronus so he would not eat her last child. Rhea disguised some rocks in a shambled up cloth as a baby so that the child would live (GreekMythology). With the help of Titans Uranus and Gaea, Rhea was able to get the child safely to Mount Dicte in Crete where he would be raised secretly by Nymphs and fed with honey and milk from the goat nurse, Amaltheia. After many years at Crete, the day came where Zeus was mature enough to claim Kingdom of the World.
But then came along Zeus, Rhea did not want cronus to see this beautiful god because she knew he would just eat him, so she tricked cronus by putting a rock in a blanket and presenting him the “baby” so he wouldn't eat the real one. Rhea moved to the mountains to raise zeus on her own, and grow with him. Cronus helped Gaia out when he heard she was upset that her children had been locked up in Tartarus. He was the only brave one out of the 12 titans that would help her out.
Poseidon, Apollo, Athena, Zeus, and Hermes are all Greek Gods that appear in the epic poem The Odyssey by Homer. These gods all play a significant role in The Odyssey by both helping and hindering Odysseus on his 10-year journey home. Homer illustrates the theme of divine intervention in The Odyssey using Poseidon’s wrath, Athena’s providence, and Hermes’ guidance. Before he was born his father had consumed all of his sisters and brothers in fear that they would over throw him from ruler. Finally, when Zeus was born his mother kept him in hiding from Cronus so he could grow up to be a powerful god. When fully grown he set his brothers and sisters free from darkness of Cronus’s stomach, and together they overthrew him from leader. In the myth of Cronus, a wife decides to save one of her children from being ate by her husband. The child that the mother saves is Zeus. She sends Zeus to a place where he is educated, feed, and trained. He comes back to fight his father Cronus. Zeus overthrown his father Cronus and banned him from coming back.
This battle was intense and neither side could gain any sort of victory or advantage, that is until Zeus went to Tartarus and freed the three Cyclopes along with the three Hecatoncheires. In gratitude, the Cyclopes gave Zeus his famous lighting bolt, Poseidon a trident, and Hades a helmet of invisibility(5). The Hecatoncheires also threw boulders at the Titans and all the efforts combined eventually lead to the Titans being defeated(1). However, this meant the downfall of Gaea’s children, which upset her, so she mated with Tartarus and had one last child, Typhoeus, a dragon with one hundred heads who never rested(1).

Throughout The Odyssey, we learn a lot about the greek culture. One of the first things we learn and that continues to get expressed throughout the whole story is that the gods are very important. To start it off, the storyteller prays to Muse. Then, later in the story, Odysseus stabs the cyclops eye out, causing Zeus to get mad at him. Because of this, Odysseus has a lot tougher of a trip home.
