Before Zeus was the king of the gods, he was raised by a magic goat named Amalthea, some things called Kouretes, and a few nymphs. When he grew up, he overthrew his father and saved his brothers and sisters. He and two of his other brothers became the rulers of the sky, the sea, and the Underworld, and Zeus became the ruler of them all. He was wise, according to the myths, and solved many disputes. He is the most commonly known Greek god, and there are many stories about him.
Zeus was king of all Gods, the god of the sky and ruler of the justice system. He overthrew his father, Cronus, and then drew lots with his brothers, Poseidon and Hades, in order to decide who would succeed their father on the throne. Zeus won the draw and became the supreme ruler of the gods. As the father of the gods, Zeus ascertained that each deity fulfill their duties, punished their misdeeds, settled their disputes, and acted towards them on all occasions as their all-knowing counsellor and mighty friend. He was the god of the sky and it is rumored that he would change the weather with his moods.

His story begins when Zeus’ father, Cronus, was afraid that one of his children would overthrow him; so he began to eat his children in order to prevent losing power. In an attempt to save Zeus, his mother Rhea, “deceived Cronus by giving him a blanket-wrapped stone to swallow and secretly sent the infant to safety on the island of crete,” (Zeus UXL). The nymphs on Crete nurtured Zeus as he grew, with a vengeance and a quest to save his siblings.

In Greek and Roman history, Herakles was a well-known Greek hero that had a great amount of strength, unlike anyone else. Greek heroes were often the children of immortal gods, which some, were great warriors. Herakles is Zeus and Alkmenes’ child, which caused problems because Zeus was married to his sister Hera. According to the Ancient History Encyclopedia, “Zeus was the king of the Olympian gods and the supreme deity in Greek religion.” Zeus was considered the most powerful god, and he could do anything he wanted.
Athena was the one of many daughters of Zeus. Zeus had an affair with Metis, a nymph. After a prophecy about a child, Zeus swallowed Metis, because he was afraid she would give birth to a child more powerful than him. Athena was born from Zeus after a headache he had.
