Athena is the Greek goddess of wisdom, war, crafts, and beauty. She was simply symbolized by an owl and a holy tree which was the olive tree. In this essay we will prove that she had an important role in Greek religion, mythology, and lineage. First of all, her legend in mythology included her helping the Greeks win wars, since she was literally born with the bravery needed in battle. Secondly, she was the favorite daughter from a great big lineage. Lastly, she had a major role in Greek religion. Athena played a very important goddess in Greece. Since she was the favorite daughter of Zeus, her role in mythology was really important. Athena was born through Zeus’s forehead, fully grown in full armor. This is because he turned Metis, his wife, into a fly and swallowed her while she was pregnant with Athena. He did this thinking that she wouldn't be born because he was worried that she would gain more power than him. The city, Athens, was named after Athena since she helped them win the Trojan War.
