Dale piece the Persian ceiling is a beautiful piece the bright colors and the unusually shaped objects are just breath taking some pieces where flattened out and many of the shapes resemble jellyfish and other sea animals and it’s so amazing because it’s all glass nothing else. The glass used in the Persian are small, dense, and rare core-formed vessels that appeared during 1500B.C. in Egypt and again in 1300B.C. in Mesopotamia. Another pieces that I admire is the sculpture honoring Harriet Wyche. The sculpture is made of rose-colored Polyvitro, a material that Chihuly Studio creates by casting a special formula of polymer resins and dyes using molds formed from large “chunks” of glass. The Polyvitro elements are crystal-like in shape, and individual masses are attached to a central armature of powerful-coated, exterior-grade stainless steel to create a tower that is over eight feet tall.
The title of the picture I chose was The Good Shepard. It was a picture in chapter nine with an artist that is unknown. This picture took place in about 300AD. It was founded in one of the largest catacombs in Rome, the catacombs of Domitilla. when the sculpture was founded the legs were cut off, so those were restored by the Greeks at the time, so the sculpture stands about three feet tall.
Throughout this semester as a class we have gone over many different terminology, seen many artists from all different countries and time periods. We have also learned about different kinds of art and media that the Artist work with. Over the entire semester I have gained a greater appreciation and understanding for art. Taking all of the new information that I learned this semester I choose three pieces of artwork from the St. Louis Art Museum. Two are similar to each other and the other is very different.
Australian art is any art made in Australia or about Australia, from prehistoric times to the present. This includes Aboriginal, Colonial, Landscape, Atelier, early twentieth century painters, print makers, photographers, and sculptors influenced by European modernism, Contemporary art. Nation identity is a sense of a nation as a unified whole, as represented by distinctive traditions, culture, and language. Australian national identity is represented differently by unique artists depending on their background, knowledge and point of view based around Australia.
The first object to catch my eye in the museum was a smaller but ornate jug from the Etruscan period. At first glance I believed the piece to be Greek, with its use of dark matte brownish/reddish, white and black paints used for decoration, and the terracotta material. The black silhouette figure is still clearly visible along with the white defining lines. The ornate patterns look great and have still yet to fade. The only part of the jug that’s seems to be wearing is the foot along with the paint on the face of the figure.
This essay will be analyzing the paintings Mending Socks and Barbecue by Archibald Motley. Mainly focusing on the painting to recognize and understand the visual choices that were made when creating the artwork. As well as being able to state specific elements in the painting. Motleys Artwork The 1920s and 1930s was a time when everyone was inspired by jazz and urban, black expression.
The Manly Art tells the story of boxing 's origins and the sport 's place in American culture. The book was first published in 1986, the book helped shape the ways historians write about American sport and culture, expanding scholarly boundaries by exploring masculinity as an historical subject and by suggesting that social categories like gender, class, and ethnicity can be understood only in relation to each other. In 2010 it was republished and features a new afterword, the author 's meditation on the ways in which studies of sport, gender, and popular culture have changed in the quarter century since the book was first published. An up-to-date bibliography ensures that The Manly Art will remain a vital resource for a new generation.
While I enjoyed the entire collection, I was drawn to a couple specific pieces. The first was a freestanding

This room is otherwise empty except for the words “Eres lo que less” (you are what you read) written in dog food on the wall. The reaction to this art was not good because a whole lot of people said it was animal cruelty. That people should boycott his art and that charged should be filed against him. While reading “The Trouble with (the Term) Art,” written by Carolyn Dean in the summer of 2006, we are taken through an array of different scenarios that lead us to questions what art really is. Dean explores the idea that the word “art” is used far too often and too habitually, and that as we study the non-Western cultures we need to use much more discretion regarding what we call the different pieces of their culture. Throughout the essay, Dean supports her thesis that we too often categorize non-Western pieces as art by using different examples of how certain non-art pieces were deemed as art throughout the course of their history. Dean does this by using four key examples of how these ancient pieces are inappropriately called art to successfully support her thesis and avoid biases.
Artwork is all around the world, but is it really worth the resources and time for it? In the essay “Is Art a Waste of Time?” by Ryhs Southan he discusses the purpose of art and explains the group, Effective Altruism. The main argument is that Effective Altruism do not agree with using resources and time on artwork. Effective Altruism is against artwork the resources, and time it uses up that do not contribute to the poor.
Even though it seems as if the two periods are close in appearance, there are immediate differences that are obvious. There are also observations that are clear in terms of the use of colors as well as the perspective or lack thereof. Furthermore, the buildings are vastly different as well. This set the scene for the comparison and contrast of neoclassical and rococo artwork. In this discussion, the comparison and contrast will be between two paintings from these two periods.
