One of the most important ability of being a leader is being able to bring members together as a single unit, and to support its members in their performance. A successful team acting as a single unit can accomplish many tasks that individuals can’t achieve alone. Being a good leaders knows how to build a good team by bringing members together through providing advices and guides to individuals as a team drives towards the organization’s mission and the vision. Some of the indication that shows groupthink is being developed are when a group is overly cohesive, unwilling to change to a new system and low tolerance for new groups of people to join the group. Is there a strong, persuasive leader in the group? Is there a too much of group cohesion? Are members hesitant to offer insights and alternatives because he or she is afraid of being shot down by another members? It is essentials to ask those questions when someone recognizes the groupthink occurs. In order to avoid groupthink, it is important to reassess the group through checking fundamental assumption behind decision making process and evaluating the risks involved. It can being with respecting others through examining he/she’s behavior to see whether or not his/her actions positively affects the group or not. This is part where team code of conduct come into play which indicates why it is important to have set of rules for members to follow in order to preserve functional working group. Additionally, it is important to asses the size of the team as problem with a large team involves with individual does not receive enough attention. Also, having the group to provide contingency plan can help the group from groupthink
