What does fostering a growth mindset mean to education?

Students who have a growth mindset believe they can grow from their basic abilities, enjoy challenges and often think of an obstacle as an opportunity to learn. Whereas, students with fixed mindsets do not like to put forth much effort, and believe that their intelligence is an inborn trait, what they have is what they will have. It is crucial to foster a growth mindset in education, students with a growth mindset value effort, realize one must work at developing their intelligence, and they respond well to obstacles by trying new and different strategies until finding a solution.
How does this change our teaching practices?
