1. “Suspicion always haunts the guilty mind.” (William Shakespeare, Henry VI) This quote relates to Sigmund Freud’s three levels of the consciousness. The conscious mind is a portion which an individual is aware of. Next there is the preconscious mind, in which consists of memories that are not of the conscious, but they were once conscious and can be returned to consciousness when they are needed. Moreover, the unconscious mind repress awful memories, emotions and actions that are threatening to the conscious mind.
2. “A pleasant and happy life does not come from external things: man draws from within himself, as from a spring, pleasure and joy.” (Plutarch) This quote relates to the idea of “total behavior” in the Choice Theory. Total behavior talks about four components that make up all behavior (acting, thinking, feeling and physiology) and when a person changes any one of those components of behavior the other components change as well. This quote takes about if an individual’s changes their way of thinking, in a more positive way, it will better their lives. In a sense, positive thinking (thinking component) will change the betterment of their lives (acting component)

Congruence is when an individual is real, open and honest. This then leads to a mature, and fully functioning individual. This relates to the quote because it emphasizes that individual’s reality should be real and honest, and you should not blame others for it, only yourself this will lead to a more positive outlook and positive
