Diagnosing The Conflict of The Gulf Oil Spill The Gulf of Mexico was considered the worst oil spill in the united states. According to ocean portal, on april 20th an explosion and sinking of the deep-water horizon caused 11 people to die. An underwater camera exposed the BP pipe that was leaking oil and gas on the ocean floor. This oil spill was about 42 miles off the cost of Louisiana. The oil was finally capped on July 15th which is equivalent to about 87 days. This explosion caused 3.19 million barriers of oil to leak into the into the Gulf. This oil spill also caused damage to deep sea corals and also damaged other ecosystems at the surface. Researchers are still trying to research the massive spill and the impact on human communities, marine life, and golf coast. The Triangle of Satisfaction model, is a model that can be used on for result type interest or much deeper through process and psychological interest ( pg 76). The triangle of Satisfaction model consist of the tip of the iceberg, the second part of the pyramid is the substantive interest, and the last part of the tringle is the process interest (77). BP is known to drill offshore with remarkable safety. Also, BP challenges to match technology with the space program with high-tech robotic equipment, which is their interest. The computers that BP used had electrical systems errors with continuous circulation that monitored oil and gas levels. Unfortunately, BP manager wanted a faster process which created a faster oil flow. The increase in pressure enabled the bottom of the tank wall to spit clear drilling fluid. This issues describes their process interest. BP’s emotional interest is that BP loss lives due to this issue and all of this boiled down to wanting more profit.
