Gun control is a very serious topic that evokes many emotions in all types of people. It is a very serious issue in politics and individual liberty arguments, but also is a very hot topic for media with mass shootings growing exponentially in America. Due to the recent relevance of shootings, many campaigns have emerged to stop gun violence and in support of stricter gun laws. Moms Demand Action is one group that has been very vocal about their opinions, demanding gun sense in legislation. They have a line of print ads centered around their cause, attempting to evoke emotion in people so that they will be more likely to research this cause.

The use of a forefront bright picture in contrast with a darker background makes the two children stand out. Colors are very symbolistic also, using a white and red font to stand out and red to convey negative emotions. Using a black background behind the top text adds more negativity to the add and makes it seem more serious. Mood is conveyed very heavily by body language here, the two girls have a very straight face and seem very solemn while looking straight ahead. Both girls are dressed in normal school day outfits and are well put together as if their parents made sure they looked nice. Behind the two girls, is a school library. There are shelves of books and rocking chairs, making it obvious that the environment is very innocent. In addition, there is an American flag in the corner which makes it known this ad is targeted to the U.S. exclusively.
Symbolism is used heavily in this ad, especially in the logo. Moms Demand Action goes by the logo of an exclamation point, which symbolizes how they believe their matter is urgent and needs immediate attention. Other symbols used is the book of “Little Red Riding Hood”, which is shown as innocent and harmless in contrast with the black, large assault weapon. The assault rifle represents all guns used in violence against children, and the book represents how silly some laws can be and whether or not laws actually protect
