Have you ever wondered the similarities and differences between Joaquin Guzman (El Chapo) and Pablo Escobar? Joaquin Guzman and Pablo Escobar are the most popular drug lords in the entire world. Joaquin Guzman is a Mexican drug lord that leads a group known as the Sinaloa Cartel. Pablo Escobar was a Colombian drug lord that lead the Medellin Cartel. These two drug lords have earned billions of dollars from selling drugs all across the world. Joaquin Guzman and Pablo Escobar share similarities and differences in their childhood, prime time, business strategies, and criminal activities.

The Sinaloa Cartel makes an estimated 3 billion dollars a year by selling marijuana, meth, heroin, cocaine, and ecstasy. Over the years, El Chapo has been charged with drug trafficking and smuggling, money laundering, and murder. Escobar worked for a smuggler once he left school, allowing him to make his first 1 million dollars. Escobar mainly focused on selling cocaine in his prime. 80% of the cocaine that was being traded in the world went through Pablo Escobar. Escobar made 420 million dollars a week during his prime, but had to burn at least 2.1 billion dollars of cash a year because he had so much. El Chapo is the modern day Pablo Escobar because that is just how similar these two are. El Chapo still hasn’t been to the point where he has to be killed, so he still has a lot of opportunities to expand his cartel. I actually wonder whether there will be another plan for escape in the future. I also wonder what will happen if the US government does decide to take Guzman in under our prison systems. I would say that El Chapo is carrying on the “legacy” of Pablo Escobar by being extremely successful in making tons of money with interesting business strategies. Overall these two drug lords are definitely the most powerful and wealthiest people under the category of drug
