Habitat for Humanity International was founded in 1976 by Linda Fullar and Millard

Today, Habitat for Humanity is a true world leader in addressing the issues of poverty

housing. They even build homes for veterans in the USA.

The concept that grew into Habitat for Humanity International was born at HYPERLINK "http://www.koinoniapartners.org/" Koi onia

Farm, a small, interracial, Christian community outside of Americus, Georgia. Koi onia

Farm was founded in 1942 by farmer and biblical scholar Clarence Jordan. The Fullers

first visited Koi onia in 1965. They had recently left a successful business and an

Faith, hard work and direction set HFHI on its successful

course. Through the work of Habitat, thousands of low-income families have found new

hope in the form of affordable housing. Churches, community groups and others have

joined together to successfully tackle a significant social problem―decent housing for

all. Since 1976, we have built or repaired over 1 million homes, serving more than

5million people worldwide. (Hfhi)

In our community the closest habitat for humanity is in Sylmar, ca. They are in charge of

Lancaster, Palmdale, Santa Clarita, Sylmar and San Fernando in California.

In July of 2016 they have built 26 homes in Saugus With solar. In All They are going to

build 80 homes. To date, Our Community Habitat has built 271 homes placing us in the

top 5% of Habitat affiliates nationwide to reach the goal of building more than 100

homes. Habitat for Humanity for Sylmar was founded in 1990 as an affiliate for Habitat

for Humanity International. They have over 80 sponsors thru out their cities.

Did you know the USA has approx.? 48.5 million People living in poverty. By 2020 it will

reach approx. 60 million.

Sometimes bad economies hurt everybody, But Habitat for Humanity is very

successful. They are an independent, non-profit organization that accepts some

government funds and donations. It gives people strength and pride being a

homeowner. It brings communities, race, genders, and different religions together.

When I was managing a Home Improvement store we built 3 2-story homes. Our

company paid for the materials and 50 + employees were working off the clock not

getting paid. It was a good feeling when our customers had heard what we were doing,

they showed up and helped us with the difficult areas of construction. Our company did

pay for lunch and breakfast for 3 months. It brought us respect and made us a better

team. My career now is part of this organization. I will be able to participate and

support the hvac technicians in installing these units and eventually donate funds.

Habitat for Humanity is always taking labor and money. This is a great program it will
