The case of Hae Min Lee’s cold-blooded murder is a long and complicated story; one that takes twelve episodes of a podcast to discuss and theorize, and seventeen episodes of another podcast to present all the evidence found related to the case. Who could have possibly killed this talented, kindhearted person? Who could have been sociopathic enough to strangle an innocent seventeen-year-old girl to death in her car? There is no way to absolutely prove that anyone committed this awful crime, even Adnan Syed, the one who has been incarcerated for it and who ultimately took the responsibility. The seemingly unanswerable question that many people have asked is, why would Jay lie? Simpson decided to investigate this herself and presented an extremely convincing theory in Episode Three of Undisclosed: “Jay’s Day.” After listening to the audio tapes of Jay’s interviews many times, Simpson noticed something that no one seemed to pay much attention to before. Whenever Jay seemed to get confused, a tapping noise would occur, and he would immediately “remember” what happened. After listening to many of these instances, it becomes clear that the detective interviewing Jay is indicating what to say by tapping on a piece of information, such as a map. The police were coaching Jay on what to say based on the hard evidence that they needed to confirm. This is highly plausible because of the parallels between the evidence in the police file and what Jay says. For example, the only road names that Jay ever mentions are the ones that are marked on the maps in the police file. Also, Jay tells the police he was somewhere that would have been impossible for him to be at the time they spoke of, but the location matches up with an incorrectly marked cell tower on one map - the cell tower that transferred a call from adnan’s phone at that
