A lot of styles from gay men and women began spreading into straight society and became mainstream (1980-1989 Fashions, 8 Apr., 2009). Hairstyles in the 80s told a lot about who a person was, or at least what they wanted to be. Having a long rat or ducktail you were to be avoided at all cost because you probably had a bad attitude.
