Maryse Conde in “I Tituba Black Witch of Salem” shows how racism and sexism is something Tituba experienced throughout her journey. Tituba was a slave under the rule of white colonial settlers. In the book The Crucible, Tituba was simply a black slave who was accused of being a witch and admitted to communing with the Devil. Conde saves and does justice by showing how she struggled in life by having her own beliefs, her parents dying, and the day to day struggle of being a women in that society in this fictionalized novel. As Maryse Condé tells the story of Tituba she analyzes the impact of sex on male and female relationships and the similarities and differences between the struggles of white women and women of color struggles in the 1600’s.

The conclusion of the story ‘’The Devil and Tom Walker, is that the devil wins and Tom is forced to pay his debt to the devil. He got rid out of it by becoming religious, but in the end he had to own up to what he had done. The devil rode back into the dark woods, to symbolize sending Tom to hell.

Dia de los Muertos was originally introduced in Mexico with the Aztec Festival of the Dead, but the traditions have been tweaked over the years. It is inevitable to say that “The Hallowe’en Party” is a major symbol itself. The party represents togetherness; a time for friends to get together, leaving cultural clichés aside. Mr. Luria is opposed to his children from going to the party, but even he has to give in because after all, “… [they will] only remember the fun they had at MacNeils” (Waddington, para 34).
