Hans and Sophie Scholl were young adults during the time of Hitler rolling. At first they believed that Hitler was leading Germany and Germans to greatness and Hitler belief of National Socialism (Hornberger). Hans joined Hitler youth group and Sophie became a member of the Union for German Girls. They both became leader within their group (Lüpke ). Hans and Sophie parent believed the opposite, the believed that Hitler was leading the Germany to destruction (Hornberger). Sophie and Hans then soon realized that their parents were right, and were against Hitler and the Nazis ("The White Rose Revolt & Resistance”). The leaflets also said that it was time for the German people to rise up and fight back (Hornerger). From the first leaflet thirty five of hundred were turned over to the Gestapo (or the German secret police) ("The White Rose Revolt & Resistance”). The first leaflet was the cause of major arousal among the students at the University. This was the first time anything was resistant to the Nazis system in Germany. The leaflet was written secretly and was and distributed by Hans Scholl and his friends (Hornberger). There was a total of six leaflet created (Hornberger). The leaflets were distributed at the university, mailed and even taken to other countries ("The White Rose Revolt & Resistance”). After the six leaflets were published Hans and two other friends did the most dangerous, public, and blatant act of all, because police watched streets of Munich. On February 3rd, 8th, and 15th the painted graffiti of building all over Munich. The graffiti said “Down With Hitler”, “Hitler Mass Murderer”, and “Freedom” ("The White Rose Revolt & Resistance”).
