Utilitarianism argues that human happiness is an ethical goal. How can HRM/CPM contribute to this goal? The concept of Utilitarianism and happiness both encounter certain propagandas when it comes to its theorization due to its relativity to its variables. Mill's utilitarian concept advocates the fundamental stance whereby mass positive externality assures maximized average happiness despite it may urge individuals to "sacrifice" for mass goodness (Mill, 1863). Similarly, happiness is subjectively relative which may vary depending on the context and also the same situation may vary from the pretext; hence it is impossible to "prove" the viability of happiness and utilitarianism in an individual level (VEENHOVEN, 1990). However, Klikauer's (2014) argument also, does reflect that HRMs do practice ethicality and morality within the parameters of their organization, however, doesn’t necessarily tally with utilitarianism's concept of greater good. Thus, the concept of ethics, happiness and utilitarianism should be systematically practiced in accordance to the ultimate ends. For example; I had personally surveyed Yak and Yeti, a 5 star hotel in Nepal, post earthquake to understand the impact of earthquake and during my visit I overheard a bunch of employees saddened by the decrease in hoteliers. I was confused because they should rather be happy as they were less burdened and when I asked them why they were bummed I was surprised to realize that the monthly profit in the hotel was shared equally amongst the top most to the lowest. The positive externality, fairness, respect and morality encouraged the employees to work as if it were their own hence reflecting on how morality of ends sufficiently accords with the means; positive ends, positive means. The HRM should encourage and reflect on the greater good but also the positive externality of it towards the doers; by this, the doers do not feel like sacrificial bates which impedes future consequences. Incorporating theories such as mutual gain perspective optimizes greater goodness and at the same time increase happiness (Voorde, Paauwe, & Veldhoven, 2011). Furthermore, value based relationship also promotes positive externality as it promotes communion, trust, honesty and a sense of achievement as it promotes maximum utility which gives a sense of satisfaction
