Happiness. Does anyone really know the meaning of the word? The word means something different for everyone. Some would say it is a state of well-being that encompasses living a good life with a sense of meaning and deep satisfaction. Happiness amongst college students has been a topic of conversation around the world. It is discussed that young individuals find themselves during these four years of their lives, but how happy are they during this new independent life style? To answer this question, four different variables have been analyzed and averaged in order to find relational patterns or possible contrasts between male and female participants. They stress, but the social scene more than often comes first. In question of this stereotype being correct and if college students are actually happy with the life they live, the theory was further examined. To prove or disprove this theory, nineteen and twenty year olds in the Keene State class of 2018 Facebook group were digitally distributed 40 surveys. 20 female and 20 male classmates answered a series of questions pertaining to everyday happiness. My variables/domains were labeled in three different ways; attitudinal, perceptual, and behavioral. Positive self esteem is attitudinal, perceived self control is behavioral, extraversion is perceptual, and positive self esteem is attitudinal as well. When averaging domain statistics, positive self esteem has a significant set of data. For this domain, the average of all participants shows a “neutral” attitude. Most people in this domain do not have very high self esteem, or very low self esteem, the average is almost right in the middle. Some participants have a high self esteem, while others have low, but taking the average it is almost neutral overall.
