The shooting of Harambe is a subject about which people hold strongly contrasting views. Harambe was a Western Lowland Gorilla who was shot after a 3-year-old boy climbed into the enclosure. In fear of the boy 's life, a worker from. Cincinnati Zoo shot and killed Harambe. A video of what happened was uploaded to YouTube and went viral, the video was seen and criticised by many famous celebrities such as Ricky Gervais and Piers Morgan. President elect, Donald Trump also saw the video and said: "Its too bad there wasn 't another way." The event took place one day after the gorillas 17th birthday. Some people would argue that the zoo did the right thing in shooting Harambe but others would disagree and say the zoo should not have shot the gorilla. Some also see it as being the mother 's fault for not keeping a closer eye on her son and some see it as being nobody 's fault. Many people have said that the mother of the 3-year-old boy, Isaiah, was to blame. People that were at the zoo on that day of the incident and witnessed what happened said they heard the boy saying that he wanted to go into the gorilla 's enclosure. Kimberly Ann Perkins, who was present at the incident and saw what happened said "unfortunately it was a bad situation where a (3-year-old) didn 't have the attention of his mother for seconds; I ding think it was as easy as standing up and falling in. He actually had to climb under something, through some bushes and then into the moat." An online petition called "Justice for Harambe" was made to try and get the parents of the 3 year old charged and investigated. The petition got more that 320,000 signatures in just a matter of days.
