J.K Rowling’s fantasy book, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets takes place in England in the 1990’s. Harry, the only person to survive dark wizard, Voldemort, is a wizard that has lived with his aunt and uncle and very spoiled cousin who are all Muggles, non-wizards. Harry doesn’t even know he is a wizard until he is invited to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. There he meets his best friends, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley. It is now Harry Potters second year at Hogwarts. One lesson the book suggests is, your friends will help you when you need help.

From the very beginning, it shows and expresses the struggle Harry had living with his aunt and uncle and how he was mistreated. Rowling shows that your friends will help you when you need help when he hasn’t written and hasn’t got any letters from his best friends over the whole summer. J.K. Rowling has shown this theme many times, mostly using Harry, Ron, and Hermione as the best of friends. A quote I found in the story is, “It’s okay, Hermione,...We’ll take you up to the hospital wing.” This is a great quote for my theme because Hermione was changed into a cat, she drank a potion, and she didn’t want Harry and Ron to help her. Harry and Ron saw right through her and made Hermione let them help her. Showing that true friends will help you even when you don’t know you need help. She also showed that other characters can be true friends, not only the main characters. For example when Ginny stood up for Harry and made Malfoy shut his mouth. You can see this in your own lives, true friends will help you and care for you. True friends will help you even when you don’t know you need
