Harvey Weinstein is an American film producer. Him and his brother, Bob Weinstein, co-founded the entertainment company Miramax, which has produced several accomplished independent films such as The Crying Game (1992), Pulp Fiction (1994), Heavenly Creatures (1994), Flirting with Disaster (1996), and Shakespeare in Love (1998). Weinstein won an Academy Award for producing Shakespeare in Love, and garnered seven Tony Awards for a variety of plays and musicals, including The Producers, Billy Elliot the Musical, and August: Osage County. After leaving Miramax, Weinstein and his brother Bob founded The Weinstein Company which became a mini-major film studio. He was co-chairman, alongside Bob, from 2005 to 2017. But even with all his accomplishments Harvey Weinstein has been robbed millions of dollars for the accusations of sexual assault on 84 women. Harvey Weinstein wasn't necessarily known for being a good guy, but the media's allegations are considered a witch hunt because the many accusations of rape were fabricated out of a personal vendetta. …show more content…

Claims built up that Harvey Weinstein, of one of the most powerful men in the industry, was putting pressure on younger women at the start of their careers, often in hotel rooms and offices. He has also admitted that his behaviour has "caused a lot of pain" but has described many of the allegations against him as false. His spokesperson has said "any allegations of non-consensual sex are unequivocally denied" and there were "never any acts of retaliation" against women who turned him down. The media had taken one of the most powerful producers in the industry and flipped his career upside down in order to place the blame of rape culture on someone instead of facing society’s problems as a whole, which is similar to the definition of a witch
