His teachers said he had the potential to becoming a pilot. Yes, he got in trouble during highschool, but who deosn't? I know I have. What I'm trying to say out of all this is that how could you stereotype someone by their clothes or color? A person could wear the most poorest clothes and be just as smart as the next person in the most expensive clothes.
At the meeting with the Nabozny family and a number of the boys who Jamie had accused of bullying, the Principal took the word of the bullies and then also later told Jamie Nabozny that if he continued to be out about his sexual orientation at school, the bullying would continue. The bullies faced no disciplinary actions and the harassment continued. Following a number of bullies verbally abusing him, inappropriately touching him and then enacting a mock rape[1][4][5] while the rest of his class watched, Nabozny went to the principal who told him that "boys will be boys"[6][7] and admonished him for entering her office without an appointment. The continued bullying at middle school led to Nabozny attempting suicide, after which he refused to return to middle school. At high school, the same bullies returned and the harassment continued.
Another incident was reported that the male student choked a teacher until she could not breathe. A few more examples include him cursing staff out and trying to whip classmates with his belt. These are a few behaviors that were reported to administrators
The bullying also continued because he was in speech therapy class, and special education classes, while attending school in the Blue Springs School District, as this made him a target for the bullies since he was different. This case is another example of how a code of conduct, focusing on those who are victimized in an educational setting, should be placed in all school districts in order for no more traumatic events to occur because of a lack of displaying compassion in a place where all students should feel safe. In the short story “Fear” by Gary Soto, and “The Case Study”. There are bullies that show to be caused by identity and choice. These bullies made choices that resulted in them being mean or rude in any way. “Fear” was about a kid named Frankie T. who had a broken home and no father, he was a bully at his school so he would hit kids and steal their lunches. “The Case Study” is about a group of popular kids (and then the whole school) who bully one person because of an opinion they had before.
Jamie Nabozny was a typical middle school student who happened to be gay. The bullying started with some students calling him pejorative (CRAFT) names behind the teacher’s back, and sometimes, right in front of the teacher’s face. He put up with it for some time until attempting to commit suicide. He had to have his stomach pumped while his mother stood by with no idea of how how to help her son. Nabozny’s mother spoke to the middle school principal who dismissed her claims saying “boys will be boys”.

Bullying is an undesirable, aggressive behavior among school aged children that involves actual disparity of power. According to Megan Brooks bullying is a serious public health problems, with significant short-and long-term psychological consequences for the child who is bullied and the child who is the bully. Bullying in Schools What seems fun and harmless for some students, is painful and degrading to others. Bullying has been a critical issue around schools, but before it was not as dangerous and know as it is now. These do not means bullying was not happening, it means it was not taken into consideration by parents or teachers. They thought it was just peer pressure or a kids game, and sooner or later the kids would be friends again. At one point, bullies think it’s normal to be mean and abusive to other students.
