Having a professional identity as a counselor is to get a clear understanding of what type of counselor you want to be, a long with, what responsibilities are required of you, and what the clients expect of you as a counselor. According to Remley & Herlihy (2016), there are four beliefs that counselors help clients through mental health issues.
Wellness model is important to counselors because when you focus on wellness your not focusing on just on aspect of your client life, you focus on everything in entirety. This model focus on the individual to accomplish the most positive mental health (Remley & Herlihy, 2016). Counselors help assist the client in resolving issues such as emotional and personal issues. The counselor will help the client get the balance that he or she needs to live enjoyable lives.

It is just one of the many challenges in life. It is more a way of thinkinig. Counselors are able to help clients put their experiences in a way that view as normal (Remley & Herlihy, 2016). Viewing the perspective of clients, will help make sense of our clients and the different issues they may be going through. Development perspective contribute to developing a professional identity for licensed counselors by helping the counselor get a clear perspective in understanding the issues and have goals that will be effective with the client.
Prevention and early intervention focus on waiting until an issue gets to serious, early intervention. It helps the client engage with the client before a serious mental health issue occurs. Counselors can try to intervene early to prevent issues from getting worst if the counselor recognizes the signs. Most times we cannot prevent things from happening. Counselors can learn more about the experiences that increase the risk to prevent the episodes before they get
