Staff at Hawaiian Airlines, from pilots to ground crew to flight attendants, are usually born and raised in Hawaiian and have a deep understanding for the people, culture and customs here. As a commercial helicopter pilot in Hawaii, I have heard how Southwest pilots communicate versus how Hawaiian Airline pilots communicate en route. Even something as standardized as Air Traffic Control has a human element. Waypoints throughout the Hawaiian Islands are consistently mispronounced by Southwest pilots and Hawaiian Airlines pilots need fewer readback corrections from ATC.
