The Urban Game
Urbanization is where the population shifts from being rural to cities. This started in Great Britain during 1750-1850. Farmers lost their jobs and moved to towns and cities to work in factories. Other reasons why people left the rural side was there was new technology, better opportunities, better facilities and increased wealth. Some benefits of urbanization were there were more jobs available, lower death rate and more food. In addition to the benefits, there are some downsides, such as overpopulation, pollution and lack of proper hygiene. The pollution came from all the factories that are coal powered while the water-powered factories did not pollute the air. The polluted environment can affect the health and quality of life of the workers. Not only is pollution a health risk but also lack of proper sanitation. Many workers died from starvation or other too much labor rather than old age.

From this activity, I learned four things. Firstly, I learned how quickly a town could become overpopulated when new inventions just keep getting made. Second, I learned was that the average lifespan was around 30-35 years old because of how overpopulated the area was. I also learned that urbanization happens randomly and you just have to go with the changes. Lastly, I learned that only the wealthy people could afford to send their children to school and buy a factory because they had the capital or money to purchase the raw material and
