Leadership, a word associated with bold and recorded act of an individual that made a lasting impact in some shape or form. In times such as trial and new beginning, great leaders emerge which are sometime immortalized by the passing time due to their legacy; however, not all who lead are necessarily bold and can lost in time and the ideology of the day. This is the case of Abigail Adam. Abigail Adam is woman hailed as a hero of feminism due to her personal writing to her famous husband, John Adams. Yet, when came to her actual work as a mother and the First Lady, she isn’t quite hailed as the ideal feminists.
We are lucky to live in a society in which access to healthcare is not on our list of things to worry about. However, this has not always been the case in Canada. Medicare in Canada was born in 1962 thanks to Tommy Douglas a former member of provincial parliament. While Tommy Douglas was born in Falkirk Scotland and only moved to Canada when he was six, he decided to join the Saskatchewan Labour Party in 1932 because he was inspired to help Canadians after witnessing the hardships they endured through the Great Depression. In 1942 Tommy Douglas who became the leader of the Cooperative Commonwealth Federation, won the provincial election in Saskatchewan.
Our leaders have to be encouraging and inspiring to the people. People like Harriet Tubman and Frederick Douglass are what our leaders should strive to be today. These people always put others before themselves. That is what a great leader should act

When I think of a physician and their characters I immediately think of the traits listed in this honor code. A physician must be a leader in order to make important decisions that will affect the lives of others. I believe that a leader is someone who helps guide and works well with others. I feel that this is a quality I have. I have always worked well with others and have been the leader for most of my college group projects or debates.
Health care was a lot different in the 18-1900’s. Technologies were developed that health care professionals take for granted every day. The hospital provided a place of refuge for sick the sick and shut-in. It was also an interactive classroom for doctors and nurses of all specialties. One interesting technology that developed in the late 1800’s was the syringe.
In the 1900 nursing being to get an education for nurse, for hospitals only (Tracy 1970, 4). The nurses that were getting their education was the ones who was scrubbing, dusting, and doing dishes. Those students worked 10 to 21 hours a shift, throughout two to three years (Tracy 1970, 4). Their responsibilities was to make sure the rooms are clean and the needles and bandage are in the right order. During that time it was poor of health for many people because they could not afford health care.

However, it is my belief that a good leader is actually just a good person who leads by example, rather than any other authority. In this context, I satisfy the leadership requirement for the NHS.
