If all citizens are entitled to the right of an education, why not the same with health care? The United States require all citizens to have health insurance, but many citizens still lack insurance including many children, and pregnant women. Sweden requires citizens to pay higher taxes, to help other citizens such as pregnant women. Women in Sweden are provided with prenatal coverage, during labor and after labor coverage (Sweden Family Friendly). As powerful as the United States is there should be universal healthcare for all of the citizens regardless of their economic background. The Affordable Care Act put into place by President Barack Obama is one step closer to helping achieve universal health care (King).

Some citizens decline health insurance due to their religious beliefs. Religious beliefs such as Jehovah’s witness do not believe in any medical treatments. Many individuals also believe that requiring all citizens to have insurance is ridiculous because some citizens abuse their power of having insurance that they aren’t paying for, the same way they may abuse food stamps. Individuals abuse health coverage by going to the hospital for things that are minor such as a cut that is not that large, while others avoid going to the doctor in fear of the worst. If healthcare is granted to all citizens this may also cause doctors to make less money, which could lead to less individuals becoming doctors, or doctors not willing to help patients. Many individuals within the United States do not practice healthy eating habits, exercising and more which will cause taxpayers to question why they’re paying towards health care and the patient/patients do not care enough about themselves to practice a healthy
