Health promotion is defined as empowering people to increase control over their own health and improve health on a large scale ranging from individual level to public level. The health promotion can be achieved by formulating healthy, effective sustainable public policy which not only address physical health but also co-factors of health such as housing, food and security, income, employment and quality working conditions. Recently, the health promotion campaigns have introduced a new slogan health in all policies in order to prioritize health in all public policies. The main objective of health promotion is to provide conditions which will help in improvising the health conditions of public as compared against individual health concerns. Thus in brief public health deals with improvisation of total health system prevailing for a specific public, against eradication of any single disease. Under public health policies, WHO recognizes three important functions to be prioritized. They are- Monitoring and assessing larger public domain with an objective of identifying health problems and prioritizing to do list. The designing and formulation of strategies which can rightly address the above recognized health issues and priorities. The third major function is to facilitate health promotion and services at a cost effective price. The workers in public health domain supports and endorse practices which enhances public health and good health practice in a larger community. The current report provides 3 public health issues, the health promotion strategies maintained to curb those issues and response to those strategies. The number of young smokers are also in rise in Australia. Thus designing such an application is not only effective but quintessential in terms of attracting young users and motivating them from quitting. This upgrade system of integrating health education and information system can give faster results than traditional way of promoting quit smoking interventions. Although the credibility of these interventions can be questioned, the number of downloads and sharing in social media websites implicates its success.
Promotion through social media was the call from Delphi conference. This is one of the fastest way to reach to a large public with less waste of time and money. Recently, the analysis done by My Quit Application analysts showed 40% of the users who have used this application has been reported to be smoke free after 6 months. The success story of this application helped to grab best mobile application in 2013 (in government sector) and Australian Mobile awards. From last two years, the application has been promoted in many international events hosted in Australia. The speed, and success rate of this application makes itself innovative and one of the emerging trends in public health
