-A. J. Reb Mater. “Life is short and let’s enjoy it to the full.” Most of us live and die by the principles of this maxim, and I’m one among them. I am a foodie, and used to munch on anything edible and soon turned out to be pudgy whiles still in my teens. It not only had a great effect on my health but also played havoc with my self-esteem. I also used to feel fatigued while walking up the stairs. I had to work hard for nearly a month, follow a proper diet to cut on that extra pounds of fat that I had stored. I agree that life is short and we ought to enjoy it to the fullest, but is eating out the only way?

Health is the most essential wealth, so opined many philosophers and MK Gandhi yet we are loath to give up wealth and riches in return for a supremely fit body. The milieu we live in; the food we consume and our lifestyle are affecting our health enormously. Our life has now become a rat-race, and we no longer bother how it ruins us. Though technology has been beneficial, it has made us lethargic and addictive. Just think how many of us would now employ the traditional methods of cooking, or go back to the drudgery of household chores? Why should you follow a healthy diet? The sedentary lifestyle coupled with the pressures of work in IT and BPO companies are a vital cause of ill-health, obesity and other health issues among their employees. The
