As Cunningham remarks this novel reflects on the presence of misunderstanding through the blindfold of greed. . These people are completely masked with the perception of wanting all the time, that it becomes a failure all in the end since no one had the ability to understand the right way of doing things. It makes this novel a key resource in understanding the difference between letting greed have somewhat of an impact on your life and letting it completely control you. The colonists pure motivation was the greed for materials and power over these people that it never caught their attention that the savagery they were portraying to the natives was unbearable and immoral to any sense of humanity. Not only destroying themselves but everyone and everything around them. Greed takes the region and demolishes any sense of the light and happiness, and condenses it into a box of darkness and hate leaking evil into the minds of anyone who stepped foot into this new created world. The natives rebel against the removal of Kurtz when he is sick (Conrad). It's a way to show that the natives are fed up with the treatment and what has happened to fellow members of their culture because of the brutality of the colonists portray upon them. The rebel against the colonists is a good point that they'll never understand why the colonist would come in and just destroy the foundation that Dave have built upon and claim it as their own. It's a way of reality to them that they will no longer sit in hide and obey in their own home. Since Kurtz is a big name in the company the natives felt as if he would be a message to send if they killed him. Only because Kurtz himself has robbed these people of their possessions, money, mental well being, and home. Kurtz became a product of greed and allowed the selfish behavior slowly eat away at his sense of humanity until there was nothing left second guess
