Therefore, logically, these services should not be shut down for purely religious reasons. Yet even so, Warren clarifies that the organization at its simplest supports a women with “wrenching, intimate, and private medical decisions” such as PAP tests, cancer screenings, and much more. With such conviction, it is clear that decisions made at Planned Parenthood are very personal, private, and important matters that could save a woman’s life. Denying a woman access to this life changing medical assistance found at Planned Parenthood would be exceedingly unreasonable and unjust. In particular, Planned Parenthood continues to be an obvious example of a helpful and truly good association through all its services including helping mothers and their babies with “prenatal care, better infant nutrition, head-start classes, and medical research on medical abnormalities. . . .”

Judith Thomson’s A Defense of Abortion is an article defending abortion on the grounds of rights, duties, and justice. Thomson uses various thought experiments to represent different circumstances surrounding a pregnancy and the permissibility of abortion in these circumstances. One such thought experiment that she uses in her argument is the burglar example. If you open a window and a burglar climbs into your house, anti-abortionists would argue that the burglar has a right to stay in your house and you have a duty to shelter him because you are partially responsible for his presence there. Even if you install bars specifically to keep out burglars and the burglar still manages to break in then you are still partially responsible and he still
In “A Defense of Abortion,” Judith Thomson argues with a unique approach regarding the topic of abortion. For the purpose of the argument, Thomas agrees to go against her belief and constructs an argument based on the idea that the fetus is a person at conception. She then formulates her arguments concerning that the right to life is not an absolute right. There are certain situations where abortion is morally permissible. She believes that the fetus’s right to life does not outweigh the right for the woman to control what happens to her own body.
In reflection to the readings, there are many arguments that are for or against abortion. Is abortion ever justified? In feminism point of view, Susan Sherwin believes, yes, abortion is justified because it focuses on woman’s right to abortion in a liberal aspect. She also believes that woman’s right that pregnant woman are the best judge when to considering to abort the fetus. That means, the autonomy is shifted to the woman.
Susan Cahill lives in Flathead Valley in Montana and was the only person in the area providing abortions to woman. Since Susan opened her clinic in 1976 she has been harassed by the local populace that do not condone abortions and her building was even burned down once, but she rebuilt it. However, in 2014 Flathead Resident Zachary broke into Susan 's clinic and performed acts of vandalism to the point where the entire clinic needed to be shut down. Since it was the only abortion clinic in Flathead, woman now need to drive to the 120 miles to Missoula just to get an abortion. Susan explains that the teenagers and the underserved population are the ones that lose the most from the clinic being destroyed because most of them can not afford to
Abortion is a topic that has been widely disputed and has long been considered whether it should be permissible. Even though it has been 30 years since abortion in Canada has been fully legalized, it is a topic that has remained taboo and many who choose to get an abortion are still heavily judged by society (Long, 2006). Judith Jarvis Thomson, in her piece, ‘A Defense of Abortion’, argues that abortion is morally permissible in most circumstances (Thomson, 1971). Thomson states how people should be Minimally Decent Samaritans, in that even if someone has no right to their assistance, they should save that person’s life if it doesn’t require significant sacrifice, and that this should be a standard we aim to stay above (Thomson, 1971). This
Before Roe v. wade the number of deaths from illegal abortions was around 5000 and in the 50s and 60s the number of illegal abortions ranged from 200,000 to 1.2 million per year. These illegal abortions pose major health risks to the life of the woman including damage to the bladder, intestines as well as rupturing of the uterus. The choice to become a mother must be given to the woman most importantly because it’s her body, her health, and she will be taking on a great responsibility. A woman’s choice to choose abortion should not be restricted by anyone; there are multiple reasons why abortion will be the more sensible decision for the female.
This is a dope standing in violation of every moral precept expected of caring, competent Americans. And, this is what Planned Parenthood wants us to respect and continue to support with our tax dollars. Abortion is nothing short of a filthy disgusting abomination that disgraces America around the world and shames us before God. It’s a cruel demonstration of man’s inhumanity, it is enriching dishonorable doctors ... and it must be terminated immediately! There is no doubt that the Roe v. Wade decision was never intended to create enormous profits for the Planned Parenthood organization or a payoff for despicable
Most abortion arguments discussed today revolve around the premise that a fetus is a human being at conception. In Judith Thomson’s essay, “A Defense to Abortion”, she argues on the topic of abortions. She defends the mother’s right to choose what happens to her body on the assumption that a baby becomes a human at conception. In the argument, she gives the famous Violinist analogy. I will argue in this essay that her argumentative analogy is not sound because of the difference in social importance.
Abortion is full of excuses, going against God’s will, and murder. America should reconsider the laws and regulations of the countries soon to be mothers. Because abortion is a deliberate termination of a human life, women should not legally have the option to choose one. Making excuses for reasons a mother can kill her baby is wrong. For example, a mother having a baby she doesn’t want is no excuse to end a life.
An ongoing court battle between the Trump administration and an undocumented teenager’s, Jane Doe, right to get an abortion ended on a Wednesday morning, when finally the teen received an abortion after weeks of legal quarrel. On Thursday, Vice News did an interview with Jane Doe, undocumented 17 year old in Texas last Thursday after she received state-mandated counseling about the procedure. She is from Central America and she crossed as an unaccompanied minor in September. Since her arrival to the United States of America, she has been detained in a shelter by the Office of Refugee Resettlement. During the time of the interview, Doe believed she would get an abortion the next day, however, the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals allowed a government

This paper will cover Government funding for Planned Parenthood. I will prove why it is fundamental for the Government to fund Planned Parenthood. I will also prove why it is the Government’s moral obligation to fund Planned Parenthood. In July 2015, a Planned Parenthood was recorded talking about aborting a fetus while preserving its organs for medical research.
Whose choice is it? Organizations such as “Planned Parenthood” are telling people that abortions are completely fine for pregnant women to get. There are many “Pro-Life” groups opposed to this program. Abortion is not morally correct because it is unfair to children that do not have a choice, a fetus is still human, and killing humans is murder, and couples can prevent pregnancy with birth control or abstinence. Pro abortionists argue that women should have a choice in whether or not they want a child.
