Founder and creator of the Ford Motor Company, Henry Ford grew up on his family’s farm located outside of Detroit in what is present-day Dearborn, Michigan. Ever since he was a child, Henry Ford enjoyed messing around with machines. His father insisted on him growing up and being a farmer. but Ford has other plans for his life. By age 17 he had left his family farm and went to study engineering in Detroit. While in Detroit he had a job working in a machine shop and\helped him save up to experiment with his own innovations. He worked successfully as an apprentice machinist, he was a part-time employee for the Westinghouse Engine Company, and an engineer with the Edison Illuminating Company.
