Every age, and culture has its heroes. Moana, a Walt Disney film, shows the hero “Moana,” 14 year old Polynesian girl, trying to save her dying island. The film Star Wars: A New Hope, by George Lucas, shows the hero Luke Skywalker an 18 year old trying to destroy the Death Star. Both of these stories show how the heroes have goals that they have to achieve. Literary heroes must give their readers inspirational hope through their determined perseverance and the sense of closure in the plot.
Many people imagine the word ‘hero’ in different ways. Most conceptualize a man with a strong stature and a He-man-like build. However, brawn is not the only characteristic that defines a hero. Take, for example, a child whose existence disturbs the very nature of the futuristic sphere in which he inhabits, Or perhaps a tenacious king adrift with nothing but his crew and the immense cerulean sea. Ender’s Game, a novel, follows Ender Wiggin, a seasoned warrior, the third of a family of child prodigies on his journey to ultimately save the world.

Anyone can be a hero. The novel, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, tests the idea of the stereotypical, strong and powerful hero. Huck Finn is an average boy who goes through a great journey. Huck Finn isn’t your average hero, this young boy challenges the idea of being a hero in today’s world. Huck being a young boy is not confident in himself, he sees himself as a follower but through his journey he transforms into a young, confident man.
Everyone has heard a good hero story, because they are everywhere, in the media, in history, and in even with each other. Tales of action and adventures have been around since humans have known how to tell stories, but every story has a similar journey that they embark on. The tale of the hero has many variations, but they each follow the same basic pattern that Joseph Campbell describes in his book A Hero with a Thousand Faces. Some stories only follow the basic outline of a hero, and others can be traced along the route exactly. An example that follows the outline exactly is The NeverEnding Story (1984) which is a movie based on a German book by Michael Ende.
Heroes are strong and brave like Ponyboy (in the “Outsiders” by S.E. Hinton). Heroes are someone that puts their life in danger for another to save them. Such as Ponyboy who is a hero because he saved all the children in the burning church. Also with Johnny he kills someone, but it is done in heroism to save his friend from being drowned.
It is important for kids to grow with a hero that they look up to. To influence their decisions and help them grow. Although the kids needs to grow up and become the heroes they once admired. In The Lion king that concept is explored through Simba as symbol of that concept. The story follows Joseph Campbell's "Hero's Journey" archetype through the character of Simba; Archetypical theory is contemporary throughout the film.
Heroes value their time period culture by showing courage and bravery in every action they make; with The Odyssey, Odysseus has to put one hundred percent effort on every single action he makes, because one single mistake could cost him his own life. In The Wizard of Oz, Dorothy is relied on by her friends to bring them to the Wizard to get their wishes, with courage and bravery they get to the wizard a successfully get their wishes. Everybody adores a good hero story. Superheroes have been a big part of popular culture for quite a long time, however, in the past years, we've seen a resurgence of Hero madness. Between films, books, TV shows, toys, and even national and international superheroes conventions, the superhero fever is a reality. Given that superheroes stories are characterized by epic fight scene against evil, protecting others, and defending equality, numerous parents support their children commitment to superhero mania, even at an early age. Comics and movies highlight the power of superheroes actions to inspire confidence and prosocial conducts in kids, touting characters like Spiderman, Iron Man, and Captain America as important model for the children.
The role of a hero can sometimes differ. Everyone can be a hero, but one person can do something that isn't only for himself but for the prosperity of a larger group of people, or even for the entire world. The purpose of a hero is to help not just yourself but others. In the old Anglo-Saxon literature, the hero usually is the one who would risk his/her life to defeat the enemy in order to help protect loved ones or a kingdom. Heroes today are illustrated as people who go on a daily basis putting their life on the line.

They should protect and save others. In conclusion, heros are meant to protect and everyone in need of there times of saving. Do you remember a time when you saved someone? or helped someone when they needed to be help? Has helping a person in your life been a goal, because it should be. Helping in times of need is important for yourself, and whomever you saved.
People always talk about them as if they are saints. Heroes. Men and women who pierce through all evil with their benevolence and courage, their valor and strength, and last but not least, their determination. They are carriers of light and upholders of justice and bow down to no one except the greater good. When catastrophes arrive and threaten the society, these heroes appear to face it.
