There were many famous historians in the past. Herodotus was born in about 485 B.C in the Greek city of Halicarnassus. Around the year 425 B.C., he published his magnum opus which was a long account of the Greco-Persian Wars that he called The Histories. He was most famous for that specific writing. Herodotus traveled a lot and collected "autopsies", or "personal inquiries" while on his journeys. According to History.com, Herodotus listened to myths, legends, recorded oral histories and made notes of places and things that he saw. What was special about his writing was the fact that he spent his entire life working on just one specific project which was The Histories.
