H.G. Wells played a large part in building the science fiction genre to where it is now.
Thanks to H.G. Wells, writing of The Time Machine he became a phenomenon in the genre. Though sick most his youth, he still had aspiration to write as he read so much. As a sick child, he was unable to travel much so as an adult he would travel all the time and place it as one of his favorite pastimes. Though H.G. Wells childhood was was difficult, he overcame his many obstacles and moved on to become a inspiration to the science fiction Community. H.G. Wells, which stands for Herbert George Wells, was born on September, 21st 1866 into a family of shopkeepers in Kent, England. As a child, H.G. Wells and very strong political views which he showed in interviews in newspapers and social satires that he would write. H.G. Wells was a socialist as well as he believed in women's rights, even though he did not expect women's rights to grow. He wrote Kipps a social satire which was designed to show his views politically. Kipps is about a young worker who loses his apprenticeship at a fabric shop in goes to get drunk overnight. The moral of the story is supposed to be that money does not earn respect. H.G. Wells was a member of the Fabian Society which was a socialist group thats goal was to advance the power of democratic socialism reformist efforts in democracies . Wells personal relationships were a complete mess First he married his cousin Isabel Mary Wells who felt that their relationship wouldn't last, so they soon broke up. Next, he married Amy Katherine “Jane” Robinsons, they were married in 1895, and they had two children. He still had numerous affairs which caused Jane to live away from him. He had an involvement with Amber Reeves which caused the birth of Anna Jane in 1909. He also develop feelings for a feminist writer Rebecca West he had a son with her named Anthony. His second wife, Jane, died in 1927.
In his free time, he loved to travel. He traveled to Russia in 1920, where he met Vladimir and Leon Trotsky. And on his travels, he also met Franklin D. Roosevelt and Joseph Stalin. On his trip to the U.S. in 1940, he made a talk called “Two Hemispheres-One World,” this talk has been used in school books and talked
