“The Frontiersmen” was written by Allan W. Eckert in 1967. It is a narrative historical fiction story. The book is full of excitement and adventure chronicling the relationship between the American frontiersman and the Native Americans. Mr. Eckert did research for seven years, hiking around the United States. He learned to live off the land and find out all that he could about wildlife and survival during difficult circumstances.
In the beginning of the story Bradbury uses the symbolism of screams. He uses this craft move to expose the emotions from the very beginning. “Did you hear that scream?” (Bradbury 2). This quote reveals the symbolism of fear.
The Technology. The African Veldt. The Lions. The Death. Ray Bradbury’s “The Veldt” has a lot of dialogue and a good plotline, and a piece of symbolism (or something that has a bigger meaning than what it is) that is in this story is the screams in the nursery, and I think that the author put the screams in his story to build suspense and get the reader predicting.
Two different groups of violence in literature or violence from a character in violence from an author. In order to show how these type show up in text, I’ve chosen the book war of the worlds, by HG Wells. The first type of violence in the stories and aliens coming to earth and caused all sorts of havoc on the people. They break things apart, blow things up, and destroy things. Over all they were extremely violent creatures.
All these combinations together help the viewer understand the film and aim to guild them to a theme that hopefully will lead them to ask questions such as: ‘do aliens exist not only in the film but also in our universe?” and possibly lead to bigger questions concerning our very own existence and being as
There are numerous ways that the fear has been portrayed in both the film and play, which can be seen where Arthur Miller has used the power of words to help show this within the play. Miller has used various language techniques within the dialogue, such as descriptive words and ______. Words like quavering, his eyes going wide, and terror which are all descriptive words to help to further enhance the feeling of fear within the play. are all descriptive words that help portray the mood and feelings of a character in a situation, and without having such descriptive words, the play could easily be interpreted the wrong way and the emotions that the characters are feeling will have no meaning to
In most stories there is only one universal conflict but in the story “The Most Dangerous Game” there is two, man vs. man and man vs. self. The author, Richard Connell, uses this method to change the protagonist’s harsh viewpoints. The protagonist, Rainsford, is a dynamic character. He is a professional hunter and believes animals have no emotions; however, throughout the story his attitude toward the animals he hunts, and hunting changes due to the appalling experience he lives. At first, Rainsford is on a ship on his way to go hunt in the Amazon.
The footage also highlights how the government used propaganda to instill fear in the common American household and justify the military actions the government took. The film presents a stark reminder of how the government used the threat of nuclear war to manipulate the public and justify their actions during the Cold War.

Chris Hedges, a former war correspondent, has a memory overflowing with the horrors of many battlefields and the helplessness of those trapped within them. He applies this memory to write War Is a Force That Gives Us Meaning, where he tutors us in the misery of war. To accomplish this goal, Hedges uses impactful imagery, appeals to other dissidents of war and classic writers, and powerful exemplification. Throughout his book, Hedges batters the readers with painful and grotesque, often first-hand, imagery from wars around the globe. He begins the book with his experience in Sarajevo, 1995.
To the unknown eye, Hitchcock has carefully and skillfully used Mise-en-scene to his advantage, causing the audience to feel fear and a sense of caution towards the character of Norman Bates. It isn’t until we reflect back on the scene and notice how intelligently Hitchcock uses the positioning of props and the characters, lighting, camera angle and staging, that we notice how he has added meaning to his characters but has also to the film, creating suspense and fear from one scene to the end of the film. Ultimately proving the point that Hitchcock “the master of suspense” uses Mise-en-scene to not only help make a brilliant film but also uses it as his disposal to add meaning in his
One of the best usage of sound design as a tool of storytelling has to be in the first sequence of The Exorcist. As a horror movie, which as a genre builds itself on the vicarious experience it provides, uses more complex patterns of sound design templates to enhance the adventure of watching the movie. Throughout the first scene, Ken Nagle lays what the audience will be the experiencing through the duration of the movie with sound design; the duel between good and evil. The Exorcist’s first sequence, the audience can hear the digging sound of the workers, which resembles the heart pounding.
