Highlander Marching Band Analysis

There were a lot of people in attendance at this game with which I spoke who said that they come to the games, whether they be home or away, to see and hear the Highlander Marching Band perform both pep tunes and their halftime performance. While many of these people that I talked to were friends and relatives of the band members, there were a few who really had no affiliation with the band whatsoever. I took the time to speak with these people who were there for the band, and relatives answered with things like "My son plays trumpet and has a solo during halftime!" or "My daughter is a senior, and I want to see her perform as many times as I can this year!". He admitted that he does not always make it to every game, but when he does his favorite parts include those with the marching band. One of his favorite moments that includes the band is the halftime performance. He said to me, "I know that the coaches put a lot of time into the team to help ensure their success. However, that band director puts in a hell of a lot of work for his band's sake and his band gives a hell of a performance. In football, mistakes happen, like, a lot, and they're almost always okay. But I can only imagine what those band kids have to deal with if they make a mistake. They make it look so easy, but I know deep down that it can't be, and that lets me have a whole new sort of appreciation for them." The man also commented on the band's pep tunes and pregame rituals where they play the Cambria Heights Alma Mater and "Don't Stop Believin'" by Journey. He said that he just loves how when the band plays, the entire stadium gets hyped and the team just instantly seems to do better right after a pep tune. It is kind of nice to know that there are people who go to the games to see the band, and as a former Highlander Band Member, I feel pride in these statements, as I know that the rest of the current
