Thinking about the average highschooler diet Before starting this challenge it consists of many things that were not allowed during this Challenge. Including but not limited to bread, pasta, Many condiments all of these things contain one thing in common added sugar. Looking at what the average high schooler eats consists of what is cheap and available things like fast food. Looking at research that has come out in the last fifteen years. They show that things like the food we eat contribute to diseases we see that are on the rise in younger generations like diabetes and obesity. So as an extra credit opportunity we could take on a ten-day challenge to cut out all added sugar from our diet. To do this meant cutting out things like bread, pasta, …show more content…
This day was Probably the hardest as I had to fight the habits I already had for lunch and dinner while still trying to eat for the day. Over the next few days, the eating became more natural, and things became sweeter that previously weren't. For example, on the first day, I had a small piece of 90% cacao chocolate and it to me tasted darker than any chocolate I had ever before on the last day I had the same amount of 90% cacao chocolate and it to me tasted like regular chocolate and sweet. This example showed how much the sense of taste could change in a short period. The hardest part of this challenge was changing how I thought about food. At first, food was something cheap and tasty that was filling After I thought more about what was going into my body sugar being as or even more addictive than substances like cocaine. After this diet, i have looked more at what I am eating than I previously did being an athlete workout that in the past have become more manageable on day ten then ever before. Other than being an athlete I work and go to school and still wanting a social life I had to learn some pretty valuable skills like how to meal prep and divide my time among
