Rachel Dolezal was born white, and her biologically immediate family is white. Blow makes a point that by her claiming to be black, she has a “choice and a trap door.” She has a choice of whether or not to be identified as black, and at the end of the day she is white.

We have took down most of the people and groups affiliated with the 9/11 attack and that is a great achievement accomplished. The Gary Johnson Campaign has been trying to represent itself as the better option than the “lesser of two evils choice.” In order for this to work Johnson has been using appeal to logos as his primary appeal to voters. The intended effect is for voters to see that Johnson is using facts and data to backup his claims instead of the Clinton-Trump approach of appeal to pathos. In June of 2013, Senator Wendy Davis from the Democratic Party conducted a filibuster against an abortion bill that had been presented in the Senate. She continued to talk for twelve hours straight so that she could hold off the session until midnight, after which the session would not have been able to vote on the abortion bill. Her main purpose was to continue to talk for such a long time that the session would run out of time for voting and would not be able to vote. This is something known as a filibuster and Sen. Davis decided to do this because she did not want the anti-abortion bull to pass. However, even though she spoke for twelve hours, she was not able to hold off the session until midnight.

Advertisements make use of pathos to attract consumers to buy a certain product. Companies often target the average woman’s insecurities, making her feel unattractive and socially unacceptable. The marketing experts then offer a remedy in the form of a product, in order to make sales (Edlund and Pomona, n.d.). The picture I chose, shows an image that is in the public eye of today’s society, the image of smoking and how people can be affected by it. In this picture, viewers can see how smoking can really affect one’s life and how the addiction can be harmful to not only the outside of the body, but also the inside. This photo shows a controversial side of the appeal that people become addicted to cigarettes and, even after trying to go cold turkey, some people still cannot get over the addiction. The first thing that is noticed is the noose. The noose is being wrapped around the woman’s neck comparing the cigarette to the noose in attempt to show death.
In Cleveland, Ohio on April 3, 1964 a man known by the name Malcolm X gave his famous speech called “ The Ballot or the Bullet”. This speech was about the racial difference that whites treated the African Americans and how its time that there be a change and fight back against the racial differences. Throughout the Malcolm X speech he uses his energetic personality to keep the audience interested in the point of needed change in the world. His audience is mostly towards the African American culture and for anybody that believes that this world should be made of equals instead of differences. Malcolm X may have been just a speaker but for some people he has crafted the world in to what it is today.
