Advertising has played a significant role in the marketing industry which has allow individuals, businesses and organization to spread their message on their brand, product, service and idea to the public. Many advertising companies would heavily use television, radio, billboards to showcase their clients businesses and brand the past, however with technological advancement increasing, the use of advertisement have expanded to different platforms of media such as social media with the use of Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and etc. It is clear that many advertising agency are using online platforms to deliver their clients’ messages as online presence is being used heavily. During the presidential debate, Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump was insulting a former Miss Universe by using sexist derogatory words to describe her appearance and her heritage. During the debate, the topic of women issues was discussed which resulted in Hillary to argue how Donald Trump is misogynist by stating, “One of the worst things he said in a beauty contest. He loves beauty contests supporting them and hanging around them, and he called this woman Miss Piggy, then he called her Miss Housekeeping because she was Latina. Donald, she has a name. Her name is Alicia Machado. And she has become a U.S. citizen and you can bet she is going to vote this November” (citation). After the debate was over, Hillary Clinton Presidential Campaign team released a video advertisement all over social media including YouTube, which shows Alicia Machado discussing her situation about Donald Trump. The release of the video was perfectly timed as the mention of Machado and her stories were the most discussed part of the American Presidential debate, which even resulted Donald Trump to make a comment about the situation and caused a fiery with many Americans and feminist groups to side with Clinton and Machado. When examining different advertisement such as Sephora, Hillary Clinton and Because I am Girl, ,many of them use online as a way to reach out to the younger demographic and tend to release videos to create a trend. When examining all the advertisement it is clear that many of them are positive, but the one advertisement that should out the most, was the Hillary Clinton advertisement after the presidential debate. The advertisement provided a powerful tone that encourage the Hispanic community to see how Donald Trump is not fit to be present, as they used a well prominent Latina women Alicia Machando, former Miss Universe to discuss the racism and sexist comments she received from Donald Trump. Throughout the video advertisement, the mood demonstrated sadness but hope for a better future with Hillary Clinton if she is chosen as president. Even though all advertisement were excellent at showcasing their message, there clearly is more room for improvement such as for example with Because I am girl campaign in regards to #DayoftheGirl should have tagged different politicial figures or celebrities to support this cause, that way it can create more followers and support for their campaign and organization.
