This would result in more queries for clinicians which adds up to the time medical coders and clinicians will be unable to prepare ICD-9 claims. Ironically, this comes at a time when practices are being encouraged to make their business practices increasingly efficient and save cash to get through periods of delayed reimbursements after October 1. However, there is a solution of hiring more coders as employees or freelancers to cover the deficit. But this comes at the cost of more planning and budgeting for staffing.
Background statement: Heritage Valley Medical Center has had a wonderful reputation for providing excellent health care services to their community. Initially, their community was 80% Caucasian, 40% African American, and 5% Hispanic. However, in the last 5 years, the population has changed to more minorities and the whites have moved out to the suburbs. This caused the Center’s occupancy rate to go down 40% because many of their traditional, more affluent, private-pay patients had left the neighborhood. To bring in revenue, they campaigned to bring in more Medicaid patients.
INTRODUCTION Defendant DePuy Orthopaedics, Inc. (“DePuy”) seeks partial summary judgment as to Plaintiffs’ express and implied warranty claims. Defendants claim Plaintiffs have failed to prove contractual privity, as required by California law to claim breach of warranty, and, as to Plaintiffs’ claim for breach of implied warranty of fitness, DePuy argues that Plaintiffs cannot show the specific purpose for which Plaintiffs would use the Pinnacle metal-on-mental (“MoM”) hip system. Defendants arguments are without merit – Plaintiffs’ evidence shows that DePuy’s marketing heavily promoted the device specifically for young, active patients, a purpose specific enough to meet the requirements of California law.
I gained exposure to statistical analysis skills, computer skills, clinical support service development, and auditing skills. Among of my projects to demonstrate my skills is collaboration with an Administrative Resident in the Advanced Clinical Access (ACA) Project to determine supply and demand. Applying the Vista and CPRS system program, I utilized the assigned Copy of Clinical ACA Template, analyzed and synthesized the Ophthalmology, Optometry, and Urology Clinics Data in FY2012, 2013, and 2014. In addition, I learned to understand and assess the Clinic Utilization Cube – National, VISN, Station, and Substation Clinic Capacity and Utilization in Past 30 Days by reading the Clinic Capacity Appointment Slots, Past Clinic Capacity Appointment Slots, Past Encounters, Future Open Capacity Slots, and so on. I was able to utilize the metrics measurement and calculate the supply, supply used and
The importance of HIPAA compliance in medical transcription lies in the fact that it ensures confidentiality of patient information in accordance with law. The HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) Privacy Rule, approved by the U.S. Congress in 1996, establishes identifiable policies for the exposure and utilization of an individual patient's health details. HIPAA stipulates non-disclosure of protected health information (PHI) without the patient's permission, for healthcare requirements, national interests and public benefits. It also seriously investigates compliance associated problems. Why HIPAA Medical Transcription Services are Important Medical Ethics and Appropriate Treatment - The first reason is that medical
16. Antoinette's Death Certificate records she died on Friday, 28 May 2004. The cause of death at 1(a) records “Sepsis”, at (b) “Gangrenous foot” and (c) “Peripheral vascular disease”. Her death was just 19-days after being re-admitted into WPH, initially for treatment for acute ischemic pain in her right foot, to be remedied with angioplasty (stent implant[4]). Upon admission, she was independent and despite her ischaemic foot could walk.
As stated above the average waiting time was 2.5 hours, however, there was a standard deviation of two hours. The amount of deviation made it hard for the patients to know exactly how long the procedure would take each time. I would say that courtesy would be the most important quality dimension of the clinic, patients need to be able to know how long the procedure is going to take, however, with the amount of variability there is from procedure to procedure it is sometime very hard to do that, therefore if the nurse is able to meet the patient and explain the situation that would hopefully make the patient understand that in some circumstances the deviation in time is impossible to overcome. Appropriate definitions of quality for the clinic is acting in a fast manner to ensure that the patients are receiving the most efficient and careful care available and at the same time they should emphasize more on courtesy so that the patients felt like they are being cared for. The stress of waiting time would be reduced by educating the patients and make them understand that every possible measure are been tried out ,to give them the efficient service while maintain the highest quality of
The similarities of doctors and hospitals in both countries operate in the same manner as both have private and government operated entities. The differences begin with how each country pays for their healthcare systems. In Canada, citizens are taxed and the government pays for the medical services. In the United States, both styles of payments are provided by government and citizens through insurance. Another difference is the wait time to have a procedure done, in Canada the wait time can be 4 times longer than in the United States.
Imagine for a moment, a surgeon in the O.R. performing coronary artery bypass graft surgery. Their objective is to restore normal blood flow to the heart by grafting a vein or artery from the patient’s chest, leg or arm and bypass the blocked artery to the heart. Sounds simple enough. Oh, one more thing, the grafted artery is 2.8 mm in diameter, and there is certainly no shortage of blood and other bodily fluids obstructing the physicians view. In this situation, a surgeon’s ability to stay laser focused and not take their eyes of the patient is critical.
That being said, one is more effective than the other. The United States healthcare system has better quality than Canada's healthcare system in multiple ways. One way is the amount of medical equipment available. Canada's amount of medical equipment per person was significantly less than the United States. As stated by Goran Ridic: "In 1997 Canada's 53 MRIs meant one for every 572,000 citizens (contrast that figure to 2046 MRIs in the US, one for every 130,800 Americans)"(Ridic).
The goal is to achieve optimal results in terms of efficiency, cost, safety, and timing, as well as overall quality of care (Belmont, Haltom, Hastings, Homchick,
According to the Wait Times Alliance’s annual report card, 27 per cent of Canadians and Netherlands(1%), United Kingdom(5%) wait times last more than 4 hours in the event of a hospital emergency(Medical wait times up to 3 times longer in Canada, Jun. 3, 2014). Consequently, Canada demands for waiting times are longer than other
For example, the long waiting lines and shortage of nurses make it difficult to receive a treatment or diagnosis. As said here, “The think-tank reports a median wait time of 27.4 weeks for Canadians to get treatment, longer than the 25.6 weeks reported in 2021…”(Tumilty). Once again, though, the wait times are likely caused by understaffing. Still, that is about half a year of waiting, and a worst-case scenario is that these wait times can further complicate the patient’s condition. In addition, the costs of healthcare services other than Medicare are expensive.
Once in the exam room, there was nothing to occupy your time except a few medical posters on the wall, and the staff was not seen or heard from. By the time the doctor arrived in the room, the waiting period had grown to 68 minutes or 63 minutes past the scheduled appointment time. The doctor was in the office for two minutes before being called to take a phone call. When he came back, the appointment lasted seven minutes.
India is able to obtain the competitive advantage over other countries because of the well-trained medical professionals and their dedicated services. The cost of offering health care services is very less when compared to the other Asian countries. The cost incurred for surgery in India is one-tenth when compared to United States or other Western
