Company Background
On 15th April 1926, Charles A. Lindbergh along with two other pilots flew threw planes and delivered bag of mails from Chicago to St. Louis. The consolidation began in the year 1929 and Aviation Corporations subsidiaries merged into American Airways in 1930. In 1934 American Airways became American Airlines. Mr. Cyrus Rowlett Smith became the first president of American Airlines after its formation in 1934. American Airlines in the year 1939 was listed on New York Stock Exchange. During the World War 2, half of the American Airlines fleet was converted to military planes. They began Family Fare Plan in 1948. The main purpose of this fare was to attract families, so that they could travel together at reduced rates. In early 1960’s American Airlines along with IBM, introduced SABRE (Semi Automated Business Research Environment). SABRE is largest electronic data processing system. In 1979, American Airlines shifted its headquarters from New York to Dallas, Texas. Two years after in 1981 they introduced AADVANTAGE travel awards program. More than 10,000 travel agency offices were using SABRE for reservations by 1985. Moving further American signed an agreement with Canadian Airlines to provide access to administrative services and computer technology. In the last decade American Airlines with the help of technology introduced apps like Travel Bag on Facebook, so that travelers could give their reviews on their services.
