Racism and prejudice have been around throughout history and in many different civilizations. Racism is, “prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one's own race is superior.’” Racism is a widespread problem that has been around for thousands of years and solutions need to be found.

Racism has been around throughout history and is not all about black people against white people. Racism can be experienced in by a person in any race or culture. Some early examples of racism throughout history are Hitler and the Nazi party wanting to kill all the Jews in Germany, Hitler and the Nazi’s did this because they thought they were superior to all other races. Racism has been a problem for society for thousands of years. In ancient Egypt the Egyptians enslaved the Israelites for hundreds of years because they were different than them. Today there are many groups of people who think that their race is the best and kill others who have a different skin colour than them. An example of one of those groups is the Ku Klux Klan. The members of that group kill people of colour because they think that white people are better than everyone else. People of colour are experiencing discrimination and bullying everywhere they go. Common household products like Bandaids are marketed to white people because the color of the Band-aid is meant to match a white person's skin tone rather than a person of colour. People of colour also get paid less. A study done in 2010 shows that people of colour get paid less than a white person does. In 2010, an African American man gets paid 15.5% and a Hispanic man gets paid 25% less money than a White person working in the same job.
