Geronimo was an Apache warrior who was born in 1829 and became one of the most feared out of Indian leaders of the 19th century. When Geronimo was born he grew into becoming part of the Bedonkohe tribe, which at the time was one of the smallest band out of the Chiricahua Apache tribes. At that time in history, the Chiricahua Apaches, specifically the Bedonkohe tribe, would have lived in what is now New Mexico and Arizona in the United States of America. Geronimo is important because he was a warrior; he fought for his land and then only surrendered because surrendering was less important than his followers’ lives. The Articles of Confederation were drafted and written between the years 1776 and 1777. The main issue that the new nation experienced under the Articles of Confederation was that there was a central weak central government with the majority of the power being held individually by each state. Additionally during this time period, American Colonists were still fighting for their independence. As with any governmental system, the more separation there is between ruling powers, the more distance and conflict there will be. Unlike today where there are separate branches of the government, the Articles of Confederation didn't provide any separation between the different parts of the government.

As we all know, Native Americans have suffered greatly within their culture and are still struggling in society today even though this is their land. To celebrate these people and to remember their ancestors, Native American history month is in November. Note: When I do history month activities I plan on doing the ethnic/race group that whole month so these are only a few ideas that I will be including in my classroom.
