Hobbes presents the idea of "power" and the eager human ravenousness to attain it. He splits power into two, one being Instrumental power and the other being Natural power (pg.67). Natural power infers, according to Hobbes, from the body or brain, for example, satire, clout, and craft. Instrumental influences glean from resources such as, companions, notoriety, and wealth (pg.35). One can measure power within an individual and classify it as “value,” or what amount would be given for the utilization of that individual 's power (pg.68). To admit somebody to be of high caliber is to "respect" that individual; the opposite would be to "shame" them and discredit their worth. The freely perceived worth of an individual is "Nobility." In the condition of nature, where man is put at war against man, no security is conceivable and life is brimming with terror. In any case, two common interests empower individuals to get away from the condition of nature; Hobbes’ refers to them as trepidation and reason (pg.108). Angst makes man need to get away from the condition of nature; logic demonstrates to him a method to get away. Reason gives the laws that Hobbes creates, which constitute the establishment for peace.
With the creation of what Hobbes refers to as “state of nature”, Hobbes alters his philosophical content into an odd cross blend of genres, in order to portray the innate and natural state of humankind and its anecdotal perspectives is the result of abstract creativity. A story commences to rise within Leviathan, a tragedy whose fundamental characters are common men battling for survival against the savagery of the innate world and the misuse of each other.
Hobbes ' depiction of the contingency of nature resembles his portrayal of what he refers to as “motion of matter”(pg.99). Hobbesian text bodies steadily and fiercely into one another similarly to the way that human bodies clash with state of nature.
