On June 30, 2014, the Supreme Court granted a landmark victory for religious liberty, ruling that family-owned corporations do not lose their religious freedom and could hold religious objections that allow them to opt out of the insurance coverage for contraception under the Affordable Care Act. The decision caused and uproar and ignited protests around the nation. No matter how unpopular the ruling in favor of Hobby Lobby was or how you feel about contraceptives, the ruling was a victory for believers who seek to live by faith and arguably, no other family in America, fit this mold more than the Green family.

On the contrary, Green finds his Christian beliefs integral to his business life; and consequently, for that reason, Green keeps his stores closed on Sundays so that his employees could enjoy a day of rest and go to church on Sunday to worship God. Green asserts that honoring and worshipping God is more important than profit making. Furthermore, he owes and credits the success of his business to God and insists that the Lord is the true owner of his profitable business. Greene is aware that Hobby Lobby won’t be around forever; and thus, he and his family run Hobby Lobby from a biblical perspective, so that they could have a positive impact on employees and customers alike. “I worked at Hobby Lobby for two years and it was a great experience. The store managers were great and easy to work with,” said Claudia Vasquez a former employee. “As a mother of three, having off on Sunday was a blessing. I was able to spend more time with my family.”
Maria Serna is a former store manager, who worked at Hobby Lobby for nearly five years. “I drew closer to God during my employment with the company, my fellow co-workers were wonderful people. They encouraged me to keep an eternal focus and inspired me to be a more devout Christian and to grown in my faith,” she said. “Working at Hobby Lobby saved my life.
