Who is the Holy Spirit? The Holy Spirit has been a part of our lives from the very beginning. It is because of the Holy Spirit that we are able to communicate with God. The Holy Spirit is the reason that we are able to hear from God, know right from wrong, and so much more. The Holy Spirit is a vital part of a Christians walk and relationship with God. Often times there are a lot of questions and misunderstandings when it comes to who and what the Holy Spirit is. The first thing that should be acknowledged about the Holy Spirit is that he is God. The Holy Spirit has a purpose and functions that can help Christians. The main purpose of the Holy Spirit is to help God’s people. “And in a similar way, the Holy Spirit takes hold of us in our human frailty to empower us in our weakness. For example, at times we don’t even know how to pray, or know the best things to ask for. But the Holy Spirit rises up within us to super-intercede on our behalf, pleading to God with emotional sighs too deep for words.” (Romans 8:26 TPT) The Holy Spirit is always there for the believer in their time of need. When a believer goes to pray, but they do not know what to say or what to pray for, the Holy Spirit is there to help.
