One in 3o children are experiencing homelessness in the U.S. There are three main reasons why children are homeless in America. Lack of affordable housing, poverty and domestic violence who are living in homeless families. Over 1.5 million children live in families without homes, among those are 42 percentage under age 6 , 47 percentage are African American and 2 percent of the American Indian and Alaska native culture. The typical profile for a homeless family is a single mother in her twenties with two kids. For those youth who are unaccompanied there homeless because of mental illness, substance abuse and lack of affordable housing.
